Mkango Resources ( (TSE:MKA) ) just unveiled an update.
Mkango’s subsidiary HyProMag is advancing commissioning and scale-up of its rare earth magnet recycling and manufacturing facility at Tyseley Energy Park in Birmingham, while deepening customer collaborations led by a new partnership with Siemens. Siemens has incorporated HyProMag’s recycled NdFeB magnets into a SIMOTICS servomotor rotor showcased at Hannover Messe, underscoring the commercial readiness and performance of recycled magnets for high-spec industrial applications.
HyProMag has produced 9.2 tonnes of recycled NdFeB alloy powder to date, shipping 7.4 tonnes to customers and supplying magnet samples to more than 20 prospects across motors, medical and audio uses. The company has started automated pre-processing of hard disk drives for magnet scrap, is recovering additional components such as printed circuit board assemblies, and is evaluating a phased expansion of plant capacity from an initial 100–350 tonnes per year to 1,000 tonnes.
Technical development is progressing on higher-coercivity NdFeB grades, including grain boundary diffusion and blending with virgin material to meet growing automotive demand, supported by the REACT UK project with partners including Jaguar Land Rover and Less Common Metals. HyProMag has also secured Advanced Propulsion Centre grants to develop a full circular economy for automotive magnets and to study scaling UK manufacturing for zero-emission vehicle technologies, strengthening its position in sustainable rare earth magnet supply chains.
