MinRex Resources Limited ( (AU:MRR) ) has provided an announcement.
MinRex Resources has appointed experienced mining executive Max Piirto as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the completion of its merger with Electrum Discovery Corp, effective 22 April 2026. The move formalises the company’s transition into a focused Balkans exploration and development platform, with Piirto charged with accelerating work across its Serbian gold and copper-gold projects.
Piirto brings more than 17 years’ experience in engineering, project delivery and mining operations, including senior roles at global engineering firm Wood Plc overseeing major projects across Europe and other regions. The board has tied his remuneration to a mix of options and performance rights linked to exploration milestones and market capitalisation targets, underscoring a clear mandate to drive project advancement and shareholder value.
The new CEO highlighted the upside he sees in MinRex’s Serbian assets, which have had limited recent investment, and flagged plans for modern exploration, targeted drilling and technically rigorous feasibility studies. Directors say his combination of technical and commercial skills is well suited to executing the company’s growth strategy at what they describe as a pivotal, defining moment for MinRex’s evolution.
