Mineral Resources Limited ( (AU:MIN) ) has shared an announcement.
Mineral Resources Limited has executed an Investment Agreement and Shareholders Agreement with POSCO Holdings for a new incorporated joint venture, LithCo, under which POSCO will acquire 30% of MinRes’ operational lithium business that holds its 50% stakes in the Wodgina and Mt Marion lithium mines. Completion of the transaction, now expected in the first half of the 2027 financial year, remains subject to further detailed contracts and regulatory approvals, and is framed by both partners as a landmark Korean investment in Australian lithium designed to combine MinRes’ mining capabilities with POSCO’s downstream processing expertise and bolster the global battery materials supply chain.
The deal cements MinRes’ strategy to deepen partnerships with major Asian battery materials players while advancing the development of two of the world’s largest hard rock lithium assets, potentially enhancing its long‑term position in the global lithium market. POSCO Holdings, for its part, signals an ambition to secure upstream supply and stabilise input costs for its battery materials operations, underscoring the continuing strategic importance of Australian lithium to Asian industrial groups despite market volatility.
The most recent analyst rating on (AU:MIN) stock is a Buy with a A$73.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Mineral Resources Limited stock, see the AU:MIN Stock Forecast page.
