Metals Exploration trims Runruno outlook as La India build surges ahead

Metals Exploration ( (GB:MTL) ) just unveiled an update.

Metals Exploration reported unaudited Q1 2026 pre‑tax free cash flow of US$29.4 million on gold revenue of US$52.9 million from Runruno, despite lower production, higher all‑in sustaining costs of US$2,067/oz and reduced sales volumes as the mine moves toward end of life. The company cut its 2026 Runruno production and cost guidance after BIOX circuit disruption, grade downgrades and the impact of historical illegal mining, but said remediation work has restored normal processing and Runruno remains the cash engine to fund growth.

Construction of the La India gold project in Nicaragua is 40% complete, ahead of schedule and within a modestly increased US$171 million budget, with first gold still targeted for December 2026 and the main mining concession renewed for 25 years from 2027. Strong exploration results at La India and Cacao, plus new concessions, point to potential mine‑life extensions and a materially larger resource base, positioning the group to roughly double Runruno’s current output and strengthen its profile as a profitable mid‑tier gold producer over the medium term.

Spark’s Take on MTL Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, MTL is a Outperform.

The score is primarily supported by strong financial performance (revenue growth, improved margins, and robust cash flow). Technicals add support via a clear uptrend, but overbought momentum readings increase near-term risk. Valuation detracts due to a negative P/E and no dividend yield data.
