Following the passing of founder Gabriel Escarrer Juliá, his widow Ana María Jaume Vanrell now controls 54.80% of Melia Hotels International’s voting rights, ensuring stability in the company’s leadership. Despite this significant holding, there is no obligation for a public acquisition offer under current regulations. The existing Shareholders’ Agreement remains intact, supporting a seamless succession process for the Escarrer family.
