Lotus Resources has appointed consultant Sam Penglis as Interim Chief Operating Officer following the departure of former COO Mike Da Costa, as part of efforts to strengthen operational leadership at its Kayelekera Uranium Mine. Penglis, a seasoned chemical engineer with extensive experience in minerals processing and production optimisation, will work with the enhanced site team to drive throughput, support a production optimisation plan, and improve technical performance at the recently restarted operation.

The company is also finalising the recruitment of a Technical Services Manager at Kayelekera, who will focus on life-of-mine planning, operational excellence, and mine-to-mill reconciliation. These appointments underscore Lotus’s push to consolidate its restart momentum at Kayelekera, enhance reliability and planning across its African uranium assets, and potentially improve long-term value for stakeholders through more efficient production and resource utilisation.
