Lotus Resources Limited ( (AU:LOT) ) has issued an announcement.

Lotus Resources has reported a fire in two newly installed electrical control panels in the drying and packaging area at its Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Malawi, which was swiftly contained without injury or damage to other infrastructure. While processing operations have been suspended for approximately three weeks to rebuild and replace the affected panels, mining activities will continue on site.

The company maintains its guidance that Kayelekera is on track to reach steady-state uranium production in the second quarter of 2026, supported by strong reagent and acid inventories despite global supply-driven cost pressures. Hot commissioning of the onsite sulphuric acid plant, which is ready to start, will be deferred until processing resumes, limiting immediate operational disruption but highlighting the sensitivity of the restart ramp-up to equipment reliability and input costs.

The most recent analyst rating on (AU:LOT) stock is a Buy with a A$1.80 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Lotus Resources Limited stock, see the AU:LOT Stock Forecast page.

More about Lotus Resources Limited

Lotus Resources Limited is an Africa-focused uranium producer with significant mineral resources and reserves across Malawi, Botswana and Malawi’s Livingstonia project. The company holds an 85% interest in the Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Malawi, where production was restarted in August 2025, and owns 100% of the Letlhakane Uranium Project in Botswana, positioning Lotus as a scaled supplier in the global nuclear fuel market.

Kayelekera’s resource base includes measured, indicated and inferred uranium mineral resources as well as proved and probable ore reserves, and the mine has historically produced about 11 million pounds of uranium.
