Locksley advances high-purity antimony and next-gen battery materials with Rice University

Locksley Resources Limited ( (AU:LKY) ) just unveiled an announcement.

Locksley Resources reported progress in its sponsored research program with Rice University, which is optimising deep eutectic solvent processing to produce antimony of greater than 99% purity from its Desert Antimony Mine in California. The work indicates antimony-bearing ore may be processed without conventional flotation, potentially simplifying flowsheets, cutting processing complexity and supporting production of defence-grade material.

The partners have expanded their efforts into downstream antimony-based materials, including nickel substrates coated with antimony for next-generation battery anodes and Sb₂S₃/graphite composites that could improve cycle stability versus conventional graphite–silicon systems. Early-stage studies also point to antimony-based electrolyte additives that enhance flame-retardant performance in lithium-ion batteries, underscoring Locksley’s push to position antimony as a strategic material for energy storage and advanced industrial applications.
