Lithium Energy Ltd. ( (AU:LEL) ) has issued an announcement.
Lithium Energy Limited has completed both diamond and air core drilling programs at its Bajool porphyry copper-molybdenum prospect in the Capricorn Gold-Copper Belt in central Queensland. The campaign follows earlier 3DIP and magnetotelluric surveys over the Bajool Intrusive Complex, designed to refine targets within the project area.
A deep diamond hole to 648.5 metres, preceded by a 140-metre reverse-circulation pre-collar, was drilled at the Limonite Hill occurrence to test the depth extent and continuity of potential porphyry-style mineralisation. Assays from the pre-collar have been received, while core assays from 140 to 648.5 metres are pending from the laboratory.
In parallel, the company drilled 83 shallow air core holes totalling 2,237 metres across the geophysical footprint to map bedrock geology and generate geochemical vectors within the Bajool Intrusive Complex. Logging shows predominantly diorite with local granodiorite/tonalite, improving understanding of subsurface lithology beneath transported cover.
Initial interpretation of bottom-of-hole air core assays shows geochemical trends along a northwest-southeast corridor that align with previously defined 3DIP anomalies. Elemental ratio maps for copper, molybdenum, lead and zinc suggest a coherent porphyry-style system architecture, despite no significant copper mineralisation being reported in the shallow samples.
These integrated geochemical and geophysical vectors will guide future exploration, with focus likely to concentrate along the prospective NW-SE corridor once the diamond core assays are available. The outcome of this work will be important for assessing the scale and economic potential of the Bajool prospect and Lithium Energy’s broader positioning in the Capricorn copper-gold belt.
