Lions Bay Capital ( (TSE:LBI) ) has provided an update.
Lions Bay Capital’s subsidiary Lions Bay Resources has revised its bid structure for the Vantage Goldfields assets in South Africa after creditors adjourned a planned meeting to seek clarifications on the business rescue plans. The new proposals include a ZAR 279 million offer for Barbrook Mines, which hosts an estimated 2.1 million ounces of historical gold resources, and a nominal ZAR 1 offer for Makhonjwaan Imperial Mining Company, owner of Lily Mine and associated deposits.
As part of the Barbrook offer, Lions Bay Resources has agreed to pay all outstanding salary claims of former employees of both Barbrook and MIMCO, while an escrowed US$10 million will fund full staff entitlements and an initial 10% payment to creditors, with the balance contingent on regulatory approval of mining right transfers. The business rescue practitioner and the major creditor have endorsed the proposed asset acquisitions, but completion still depends on creditor approval at an upcoming meeting and Lions Bay securing at least US$7 million in additional funding, leaving transaction certainty and timing a key concern for stakeholders.
Spark’s Take on LBI Stock
According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, LBI is a Neutral.
The score is primarily held down by weak financial performance (recurring losses and latest TTM cash burn) and bearish technicals (price below key moving averages with negative MACD). Valuation provides only limited support via a very low P/E, without a dividend yield or stronger underlying profitability to validate it.
