Lion Copper and Gold ( (TSE:LEO) ) has shared an update.
Lion Copper and Gold has appointed Samuel Engineering as lead consultant for the Definitive Feasibility Study and Nexus Environmental Consultants as lead permitting and environmental adviser for its flagship Yerington Copper Project in Nevada. The moves follow completion of a Preliminary Feasibility Study and mark the transition into feasibility and permitting phases, coordinated with Nuton-funded Stage 3 work.
Samuel Engineering will oversee mine planning, processing, cost estimates and execution strategy, leveraging its experience with large-scale copper developments and Nevada’s regulatory environment. Nexus will manage environmental baseline studies, permitting strategy and regulatory submissions at state and federal levels, as Lion Copper and Gold targets inclusion of Yerington under the FAST-41 framework to enhance permitting transparency and schedule certainty.
The DFS and permitting programs are directly aligned with Nuton’s commitment to fund up to US$31 million for Stage 3 activities, integrating technical design with permitting and Nuton’s proprietary heap leach technology. This coordinated approach is intended to de-risk project execution and support long-term development objectives for the Yerington asset.
Positioned as one of the largest undeveloped copper assets in the United States, the Yerington Copper Project is strategically located in a top-tier Nevada mining jurisdiction with strong infrastructure and workforce availability. Lion Copper and Gold expects the project to contribute to U.S. domestic copper cathode supply, supporting electrification, renewable energy, data centers, electric vehicles and broader national supply-chain security.
