Kuraray Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, primarily engaged in the production of chemicals, fibers, and textiles, with a focus on innovative materials and technologies.

In its latest earnings report for the first half of 2025, Kuraray Co., Ltd. reported a decline in financial performance compared to the previous year, with net sales decreasing by 2.7% to ¥399,958 million and net income attributable to owners of the parent dropping by 53.9% to ¥14,039 million.

The company’s operating income fell by 42.2% to ¥26,261 million, and ordinary income decreased by 51.7% to ¥21,284 million. The decline in profits was attributed to inventory valuation differences, rising raw material and fuel prices, and stagnant demand in key markets such as Europe and the United States. Segment-wise, the Vinyl Acetate and Functional Materials divisions saw significant drops in income, while the Isoprene segment showed improvement due to operational stabilization in Thailand.

Looking ahead, Kuraray Co., Ltd. has revised its full-year forecast for 2025, expecting a slight increase in net sales but a decrease in operating and ordinary income due to ongoing economic uncertainties and market challenges. The company remains focused on navigating these challenges while leveraging its strengths in innovative materials.
