Jervois Global Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with Global Tungsten & Powders to consider a minority equity investment in a proposed U.S. cobalt refinery, which could supply enough cobalt for 1.2 million electric vehicles annually. The refinery, with no current operating counterparts in the U.S., is a strategic asset for America’s critical mineral independence and is advancing with a Department of Energy loan application and a Department of Defense feasibility study. Jervois, resuming its feasibility study after a brief pause, highlights the refinery’s potential co-location in Pennsylvania and its role in meeting growing demand for compliant cobalt sulphate.
