The latest announcement is out from Japan Post Bank Co ( (JP:7182) ).
Japan Post Bank has decided to enhance its shareholder benefit program to further reward long-term investors and encourage continued shareholding. The bank originally introduced the program in 2022 to express gratitude to shareholders, improve the appeal of its stock, and increase the number of shareholders.
Under the current program, shareholders holding 500 or more shares receive a catalog gift worth ¥3,000, which will continue through the benefit with a March 31, 2026 record date. From the March 31, 2027 record date, shareholders with at least 500 shares who have held them continuously for three years or more will see their benefit increased to a catalog gift worth ¥5,000.
Long-term shareholder status will be determined by looking back three years from each record date, starting with shareholders who have continuously held shares since March 31, 2024. The requirement is met when the same shareholder number appears at least seven consecutive times in the shareholder registry, and any break in continuity, such as selling all shares or name changes through inheritance, will reset the holding period.
By introducing a higher reward tier for long-term holders, Japan Post Bank aims to strengthen shareholder loyalty and stabilize its investor base. This move is likely to support a more stable ownership structure and could positively influence the bank’s market positioning by signaling a commitment to rewarding patient capital.
