Ivanhoe Mines (TSE:IVN) has released an update.
Ivanhoe Mines has successfully completed the construction of the Kipushi zinc-copper-lead-germanium mine concentrator in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ahead of schedule, marking the mine’s revival after a century since its inception and three decades of dormancy. The company has commenced production with a 2024 guidance set for 100,000 to 140,000 tonnes of zinc, aiming to become the fourth-largest global zinc producer with plans to expand processing capacity further. Key off-take agreements have been secured with CITIC Metal and Trafigura, complemented by substantial financing to bolster Kipushi’s re-emergence as the world’s most carbon-efficient zinc mine.
