The company stated his exit did not stem from any disagreement over operations, policies, or practices, and on March 16, 2026, Intrepid entered into a separation agreement granting Preston a $1,335,638 lump-sum payment for transition services, subject to conditions and clawback provisions, along with the forfeiture of all unvested equity awards.

To ensure continuity in its finance function, the board on March 11, 2026, named Chief Accounting Officer Cris Ingold as interim principal financial officer for SEC reporting purposes, a role he will hold concurrently with his existing responsibilities. Ingold, a long-serving company finance executive and certified public accountant, will receive an additional $12,000 per month and a one-time $50,000 cash bonus for taking on the interim role, with the company emphasizing there are no special arrangements, family relationships, or related-party transactions tied to his appointment.
