Infratil Limited has committed to support Contact Energy’s acquisition of Manawa Energy, a company in which Infratil holds a 51% stake. The deal, valuing Manawa shares at a 48% premium, will result in Infratil receiving around NZ$186 million and owning about 9.5% of Contact post-transaction. The merger aims to strengthen the New Zealand electricity sector by combining Manawa’s hydro assets with Contact’s energy portfolio, enhancing resilience, flexibility, and decarbonization efforts.
