I-RES Refreshes Board with New Independent Directors as Long-Serving Members Step Down

Irish Residential Properties REIT has overhauled its board, appointing Gary Britton and Shruthi Chindalur as independent non-executive directors following a formal selection process, with their appointments effective after shareholder approval at the 2026 AGM. The move coincides with the planned departures of non-executive directors Joan Garahy, Richard Nesbitt and Amy Freedman, and the elevation of Tom Kavanagh to Senior Independent Director and Denise Turner to chair of the remuneration committee, bringing deeper governance, technology and AI expertise to the board and signalling a renewal of leadership following a period of strategic review and refinancing.

Chairman Hugh Scott-Barrett paid tribute to the outgoing directors for their roles in steering the company through significant change, including a strategic review in 2024 and refinancing in 2025. The incoming directors add substantial experience: Britton, a former KPMG partner and veteran non-executive across Irish financial and listed companies, and Chindalur, a seasoned technology and AI-focused executive and director on several London-listed boards, reinforcing IRES’s governance and digital capabilities as it consolidates its position in Ireland’s private rental market.
