Huadian Power International ( (HK:1071) ) just unveiled an announcement.

Huadian Power International reported that its group generated 59.02 million MWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2026, with 55.37 million MWh sold to the grid, marking year-on-year increases versus previously announced figures but declines of about 8% compared with retrospectively adjusted data. The company attributed the reduced output on an adjusted basis and a 2.58% drop in average on-grid tariff to intensifying competition from newly installed new-energy capacity, which is squeezing operating space for existing generating units and may pressure margins and utilization at its thermal power plants.

Across its main operating units, Huadian’s thermal power plants, including major facilities such as Zouxian, Laizhou and Hubei, contributed the bulk of first-quarter generation and sales. The data underlines a shifting market landscape in which legacy coal-fired assets face growing displacement by renewable projects, signaling ongoing structural challenges for conventional generators within China’s evolving power mix.

The most recent analyst rating on (HK:1071) stock is a Sell with a HK$4.70 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Huadian Power International stock, see the HK:1071 Stock Forecast page.
