Great Eastern Holdings Limited ( (SG:G07) ) has shared an update.
Great Eastern Holdings reported that its gross premiums fell 17% in 2025 to S$14.2 billion as it deliberately shifted its Singapore life portfolio away from short-term single premium endowments toward a more diversified mix of longer-term, needs-based products, while also pruning loss-making group and general insurance business. Despite the top-line contraction, the group grew total assets 8% to S$122.6 billion, maintained strong AA-range credit ratings and recorded an 11.5% rise in embedded value to S$20.1 billion, underscoring its balance sheet resilience.
New business metrics signalled improved quality of earnings, with Total Weighted New Sales down 15% to S$1.5 billion but new business embedded value rising 19% to a record S$740 million, lifting NBEV margins to 48.2% on stronger Singapore life sales and more profitable channel mix. Group profit attributable to shareholders hit a record S$1.2 billion, up 21% year on year on better insurance service results and robust investment gains, and management outlined a strategy to double new business value over the medium term and reinforce Great Eastern’s competitive position, even as it navigates subdued Malaysian life and medical markets and a leadership transition at the board level.
