General Mills Reports Decline in Q3 Earnings

General Mills Inc ( (GIS) ) has released its Q3 earnings. Here is a breakdown of the information General Mills Inc presented to its investors.

General Mills Inc., a leading global food company, operates in the consumer foods industry, specializing in the production and marketing of branded consumer foods sold through retail stores. The company is known for its diverse portfolio, including well-known brands like Cheerios, Pillsbury, and Häagen-Dazs.

In its fiscal 2025 third-quarter earnings report, General Mills reported a decline in net sales and earnings, with net sales down 5% to $4.8 billion and diluted earnings per share (EPS) down 4% to $1.12. The company attributed these declines to retailer inventory reductions and a slowdown in snacking categories.

Key financial metrics highlighted in the report include a 2% decrease in operating profit to $891 million and a 13% drop in adjusted operating profit in constant currency. The company’s gross margin improved slightly by 40 basis points to 33.9% due to cost savings initiatives, although adjusted gross margin decreased by 60 basis points.

Despite the challenges, General Mills remains focused on its Accelerate strategy, aiming for sustainable growth through brand building, innovation, and strategic acquisitions. The company plans to enhance investment in innovation and brand communication in fiscal 2026, funded by cost-saving initiatives.

Looking ahead, General Mills has updated its full-year fiscal 2025 outlook, expecting organic net sales to decline by 1.5% to 2% and adjusted operating profit and EPS to decrease by 7% to 8% in constant currency. The company is committed to driving growth through increased efficiency and strategic investments.
