Gem Diamonds ( (GB:GEMD) ) just unveiled an update.
Gem Diamonds reported that its Letšeng mine in Lesotho generated total revenue of US$32.1 million in the first quarter of 2026, with the main production export of 16,727 carats achieving an average price of US$1,501 per carat. Production largely came from the lower-grade Main Pipe, while satellite ore contributions declined, and carats sold were lower due to carryover parcels that will be marketed in the second quarter.
The company highlighted strong price performance, including a 52.24 carat white diamond achieving US$32,908 per carat and four stones selling for more than US$1 million each, supported by the recovery of two diamonds exceeding 100 carats, one of which will be sold in the next quarter. Management said all operational and financial metrics, including carats sold, are tracking within 2026 guidance, indicating stable operations and sustained demand for Letšeng’s high-value production despite quarter-on-quarter variability in volumes and ore mix.
Spark’s Take on GEMD Stock
According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, GEMD is a Neutral.
The score is primarily held back by weak financial performance, including severe margin compression, a large net loss, and negative free cash flow in 2025. Technical indicators are neutral overall, providing limited confirmation of a sustained uptrend, and valuation support is limited given the negative P/E and no dividend yield data.
