GameStop ( (GME) ) just unveiled an update.

On May 3, 2026, GameStop disclosed that it had built a 5% economic stake in eBay and proposed acquiring all of eBay’s common stock for $125 per share, paid half in cash and half in GameStop stock, valuing the target at about $55.5 billion and offering a premium of up to 46% over eBay’s unaffected price. GameStop outlined an aggressive cost-cutting plan to remove $2 billion in annualized expenses from eBay within a year, projected that these cuts would significantly boost eBay’s earnings per share, highlighted its $9.4 billion in cash and liquid investments and indicative financing support, and said its board unanimously backed the non-binding proposal, with CEO Ryan Cohen slated to lead the combined company and use GameStop’s U.S. store base to enhance eBay’s operations if a definitive deal is reached.

Spark’s Take on GME Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, GME is a Neutral.

The score is driven primarily by improving profitability and cash flow, supported by disciplined cost control, but tempered by ongoing revenue declines and a more risk-prone balance-sheet profile. Weak technical momentum further weighs on the near-term outlook, while valuation appears only moderately attractive given the lack of dividend support.
