Fulcrum Metals Plc ( (GB:FMET) ) just unveiled an update.
Fulcrum Metals has commissioned Test Design Implement Solutions to conduct a pilot plant scoping study for its Teck Hughes and Sylvanite tailings projects in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, following improved metallurgical results using Extrakt’s cyanide-free process. The work, supported by Extrakt and Bechtel, is designed to chart a disciplined path from laboratory success to pilot-scale operations.
The 10-week study will define pilot plant configurations, locations, process flows, reagent management integration and high-level capital and operating costs, while mapping key risks and mitigation strategies. Its deliverables are intended to de-risk the transition to detailed engineering and execution, creating a repeatable pilot-plant framework that could accelerate Fulcrum’s tailings reprocessing pipeline and enhance its positioning in environmentally focused metals recovery.
By establishing a scalable pilot module, Fulcrum aims to support not only its current tailings projects but also future assets and potential partners across Canada’s major gold camps. This initiative underscores the company’s strategy to industrialise cyanide-free recovery from legacy mine waste and could reinforce its role as an early mover in sustainable tailings reprocessing.
More about Fulcrum Metals Plc
Fulcrum Metals is an AIM-listed, technology-led natural resources company focused on recovering precious and critical metals from historic mine tailings in Canada using cyanide-free leaching technology developed by Extrakt Process Solutions. Its core assets are the Teck-Hughes and Sylvanite tailings projects in Ontario’s Kirkland Lake region, with additional exploration interests across Ontario and Saskatchewan and exclusivity over Extrakt’s process in key Canadian gold districts.
The company targets legacy gold mine waste in the Timmins and Kirkland Lake camps, areas that have produced more than 110 million ounces of gold and host dozens of documented tailings sites, positioning Fulcrum to scale a low-impact reprocessing model. By combining environmental credentials with access to large, underexploited waste resources, Fulcrum aims to build a long-term business unlocking value from mine tailings while reducing their environmental footprint.
