Frontier Resources Limited ( (AU:FUN) ) has issued an update.
Fortuna Metals has outlined a large exploration target at its Mkanda Project in Malawi, estimating 180 to 240 million tonnes grading 0.86 to 1.0% rutile, underscoring the area’s potential as a globally significant rutile province. The company notes that mineralisation begins at surface, nearby rail access links directly to Nacala port, and graphite and other critical mineral credits could materially enhance project economics.
The current target is constrained by shallow drilling, with only part of the 2025 hand-auger holes assayed to full depth, and deeper aircore programs to more than 20 metres planned for 2026 to support a maiden inferred resource in the second half of the year. Management expects substantial growth in resource potential through deeper and lateral drilling at Mkanda and follow-up work at the nearby Kampini licence, positioning Fortuna to rapidly advance a strategic asset in a market facing tight natural rutile supply.
