Fonterra Co-operative Group has appointed long-time executive Richard Allen as its next chief executive officer, succeeding Miles Hurrell from 1 May 2026. Allen, who joined Fonterra as a graduate in 2008, has held senior roles across its global supply chain, including leading Farm Source, serving as Vice President of its China foodservice business, founding CEO of MyMilk, President Atlantic in Chicago, and most recently President Global Ingredients.
Chair Peter McBride said Allen’s deep operational experience and strong relationships with farmer shareholders and global customers position him to lead the next phase of Fonterra’s strategic implementation. The co-operative emphasised continuity in strategy, performance momentum and financial discipline, with Hurrell staying on in an advisory capacity until September 2026 to support a smooth leadership transition for farmers and global customers.
