Under the program, about two kilograms of Lac Knife graphite will be processed under multiple coating conditions, with Forge Nano handling coating, analytical testing, and electrochemical evaluation. The goal is to determine if ALD can offer a lower-impact alternative to traditional pitch coatings while delivering performance gains under fast charging, repeated cycling, and variable temperatures.
The partnership leverages Forge Nano’s Atomic Armor ALD platform and its broader U.S. battery manufacturing footprint, including a 3 GWh-per-year facility targeting defence and niche mobility markets. Data generated from this phase is expected to guide potential pilot-scale programs, engagement with battery manufacturers and downstream partners, and support the development of higher-value graphite products aligned with evolving market requirements.
