Contact Energy Limited ( (COENF) ) has provided an update.

FirstCape Group Limited has disclosed that it has ceased to be a substantial product holder in Contact Energy, after its stake fell below the 5% threshold required for substantial holding status under New Zealand securities law. Its holding decreased from 5.056% to 4.965% of Contact’s ordinary shares, due to a series of on-market buy and sell trades and off-market transfers carried out since 20 February 2026.

The disclosure reflects portfolio rebalancing activity rather than a complete exit, as FirstCape still retains more than 52 million Contact shares. While the change marginally reduces the influence of a formerly substantial shareholder, it does not signal any immediate change to Contact Energy’s operations or governance, but is relevant for investors tracking shifts in the company’s share register and institutional ownership.
