First Graphene to Acquire Ionic and Imagine Assets to Boost Graphene Coatings Push

First Graphene Ltd ( (AU:FGR) ) just unveiled an announcement.

First Graphene has entered a binding agreement to acquire the manufacturing, intellectual property and development assets of Ionic Industries Inc. and its subsidiary Imagine Intelligent Materials for AU$250,000. The deal delivers proven graphene coatings technologies, existing production infrastructure, and established sales and distribution channels that are already generating revenue.

A key attraction is Ionic’s graphene coatings for geotextiles, which enhance barrier and conductivity properties for uses such as water containment systems, landfill and waste management barriers, and durable construction materials. The acquisition broadens First Graphene’s coatings and formulations capability, aligns closely with its PureGRAPH product line, and is expected to unlock new revenue streams while enabling a more focused, capital‑efficient strategy centred on coatings rather than fully integrated manufacturing.

First Graphene plans to integrate and selectively deploy the acquired technology portfolio, which also covers environmental remediation, water treatment, energy storage, sensing and functional coatings. The company will rebuild and optimise the existing customer and distribution base, using collaborative arrangements to accelerate commercialisation and support scalable expansion in geotextile and environmental infrastructure markets.
