An announcement from Fingerprint Cards ( ($SE:FING.B) ) is now available.
Fingerprint Cards’ board has unanimously endorsed a merger with fellow Swedish biometrics player Precise Biometrics, under which Precise will absorb Fingerprint Cards and shareholders in the latter will receive nine new Precise shares for each share held. The deal, which values Fingerprint Cards at about SEK 135.7 million and gives its investors roughly 47 percent of the merged entity, aims to create a larger biometrics provider with greater scale, a broader multi‑modal portfolio, and enhanced commercial reach in a consolidating market.
The combined company plans to integrate hardware, software and cloud‑based identity solutions, using AI‑driven technologies to target high‑growth segments such as identity, authentication, access control and cybersecurity. Management expects the merger to unlock meaningful synergies, boost profitability and improve win rates through cross‑selling and upselling, while completion remains subject to shareholder approval at both firms’ general meetings.
