Fingerprint Cards and Human Insight AI specialist Smart Eye have jointly developed a multi-modal biometric authentication system that combines facial recognition with iris verification using a single camera. The solution is designed to deliver seamless, passwordless identity checks across sectors such as automotive, smart homes, media interaction and high-security workplaces, where continuous and unobtrusive verification is increasingly critical.
By fusing two independent biometric signals, the technology boosts accuracy from typical single-mode levels to an estimated false match probability of about one in a billion, substantially improving resilience against spoofing and unauthorized access. The partners say the system supports iris authentication at distances of up to three meters and enables triangulation and continuous authentication, and they plan to showcase the technology at Auto China 2026 in Beijing and the RSA cybersecurity conference in San Francisco as they target new markets and security-sensitive applications.
