Engie SA (FR:ENGI) has released an update.

ENGIE has initiated the construction of one of Europe’s largest battery energy storage systems in Vilvoorde, Belgium, with an expected capacity of 200 MW, set to store enough energy to power 96,000 homes. The project, which aligns with ENGIE’s commitment to large-scale flexibility solutions and renewable energy integration, is slated for a two-phase launch in 2025 and 2026. This development is a step towards ENGIE’s ambition to achieve 10 GW of battery capacity globally by 2030.
