Elliptic Laboratories AS ( (DE:EIP) ) has shared an announcement.

Elliptic Labs has expanded the reach of its AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform by shipping it on five smartphone models launched in January 2026, including four new Honor devices and vivo’s iQOO Z11 Turbo. This deployment underlines the growing adoption of the company’s software-only AI Virtual Proximity Sensor, which replaces traditional hardware components to cut costs and sourcing risks for smartphone manufacturers.

The AI Virtual Proximity Sensor enables core proximity detection functions, such as turning off the display and disabling touch when a phone is held to the ear, improving call reliability and conserving battery life. By embedding this capability in software and integrating data from multiple sources, Elliptic Labs strengthens its position as a key enabler of more intuitive, sensor-rich smartphones, reinforcing its role in shaping next-generation device interaction for global OEM partners and end users.
