Eiffage Secures Contract for Belgium’s Energy Island

Eiffage (FR:FGR) has released an update.

Eiffage, through its subsidiary Smulders, has won a major contract with Elia Transmission Belgium to construct four high-capacity electrical substations on the world’s first artificial energy island, Princess Elisabeth Island, off the Belgian coast. The project, which encompasses design to commissioning, is a key part of an offshore grid network to centralize energy from regional wind farms and facilitate international energy exchange. Eiffage’s expertise in offshore wind infrastructure is highlighted by previous projects such as the Saint-Brieuc Bay wind farm in France and two Scottish offshore wind farms.
