The latest announcement is out from New Zealand Oil & Gas Limited ( (AU:ECH) ).

Echelon Resources Limited has confirmed that the Mereenie and Palm Valley joint venture partners have agreed with the Northern Territory’s Power and Water Corporation to extend the deadline for executing binding gas supply agreements from 24 March 2026 to 1 April 2026. The short extension gives the parties additional time to finalise contractual terms underpinning future gas deliveries from the Mereenie and Palm Valley fields, which are important supply sources for the Northern Territory’s energy system and a key driver of Echelon’s growth and asset value.

Participants in the Mereenie permits OL4/OL5 include Central Petroleum Mereenie Pty Ltd as operator with 25%, Echelon Mereenie Pty Ltd with 42.5%, Cue Mereenie Pty Ltd with 7.5% and Horizon Australia Energy Pty Ltd with 25%. In the Palm Valley permit OL3, Central Petroleum operates with 50%, while Echelon Palm Valley Pty Ltd and Cue Palm Valley Pty Ltd hold 35% and 15% respectively, leaving Echelon with substantial exposure to the outcome of the pending gas supply negotiations.
