Coloured Ties Capital ( (TSE:TIE) ) has provided an update.
Coloured Ties Capital, one of the largest shareholders of Labrador Gold, has intensified its campaign to overhaul the company’s board, arguing that years of strategic missteps have destroyed shareholder value. The firm says widespread investor backing shows dissatisfaction with management’s plan to pivot into a risky new business direction without the requisite expertise.
Central to Coloured Ties’ criticism is Labrador Gold’s newly announced joint venture with Nemo Resources on the remote Watson Project in Ontario’s Ring of Fire, which it labels a “treasury destructive” move unsuitable for a junior miner. Coloured Ties notes it previously rejected the same Nemo proposal as uneconomic, contending that Labrador should instead focus on advanced brownfield projects that can generate nearer-term returns rather than committing to costly, decades-long greenfield exploration.
The activist shareholder also contrasts its own pipeline of advanced-stage investment opportunities with Labrador’s failure to secure a single viable deal over 18 months, portraying this as evidence of weak leadership and poor project evaluation. It is urging investors to back its proposed board changes, framing the vote as a choice between continued value erosion and a reset in strategy and governance at Labrador Gold.
