Chorus Limited ( (CHRUF) ) has issued an announcement.
Chorus reported that data demand on its fibre network continued to rise in the second quarter of FY26, with average monthly fibre usage reaching a record 699GB per connection in December 2025, up 9% year on year, and a single-day record of more than 31 petabytes driven by the Fortnite “Pacific Break” update. Fibre connections grew by about 7,000 to 1,129,000, lifting uptake across its wider fibre footprint to 72.4%, and the company passed a further 5,000 addresses with fibre, while total fixed line connections fell by 8,000 as copper disconnections accelerated; only 3,000 copper lines now remain in Chorus’ fibre areas, keeping the company on track to retire copper there by mid-2026 and to complete a consumer-focused nationwide copper retirement by 2030, underscoring its transition away from legacy infrastructure toward modern broadband services.
