Central New Energy Holding Group’s subsidiary Central Low Carbon New Energy (Anhui) Group has signed a cooperation agreement with Suzhou Heimian Optoelectronics Technology to develop perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem photovoltaic cells tailored for space use. The partners plan to collaborate with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and form a joint venture to drive research, pilot production and eventual industrialisation of high-efficiency, lightweight and low-cost space solar products amid rising demand from low Earth orbit satellite constellations.
Under the agreement, Central Low Carbon will focus on developing and supplying crystalline silicon bottom cells, providing application requirements for aerospace scenarios and participating in pilot production to support system integration testing. The initiative positions Central New Energy Holding Group to tap into fast-growing commercial space markets, address the high costs of traditional gallium arsenide cells and strengthen its role in next-generation space photovoltaic solutions.
