Catalina extends Breakaway Dam copper strike to 1.2km with strong VMS results

Catalina Resources has expanded the known strike length of mineralisation at its Breakaway Dam Copper Project from about 700 metres to roughly 1.2 kilometres, confirming a larger copper-rich footprint. Recent reverse circulation drilling intersected sulphide mineralisation in multiple positions and depths, reinforcing the interpretation of a laterally extensive VMS copper system east of Menzies in Western Australia.

Key copper intercepts included intervals grading up to 2.17% copper, supported by strong downhole electromagnetic responses that highlight both on-hole and off-hole conductive plates. The results give Catalina clearer geological vectors and have led to the identification of priority targets for the next phase of more focused drilling, aimed at testing thicker and more coherent sulphide zones to potentially build project scale.

The campaign has significantly improved understanding of system continuity and geometry within a defined stratigraphic horizon overlying porphyritic basalt. Combined with historical drill hits approaching 2% copper over true widths of up to around 8–9 metres, the new data strengthens Breakaway Dam’s potential to emerge as a substantial copper asset, which could enhance Catalina’s exploration portfolio and positioning in the copper sector.
