The latest update is out from Cambi ASA ( (DE:3W7) ).
Cambi ASA, a leading provider of thermal hydrolysis technology for wastewater and biogas projects, has secured a large NOK 100–200 million contract with Kier Integrated Services to supply two THP systems for United Utilities’ Blackburn BIO Treatment Centre in Lancashire. The deal strengthens Cambi’s role in modern sludge treatment, supporting higher biogas yields, lower biosolids volumes and regulatory flexibility for major utilities.
The Blackburn project is part of United Utilities’ wider programme to modernise sludge treatment hubs, consolidate ageing assets and cut methane emissions while increasing renewable energy output across north-west England. With equipment delivery slated for late 2027 and operations from 2028, the upgraded BIO centre will serve as a regional digestion hub, treating sludge from multiple sites and producing high-quality biosolids for land recycling, underscoring Cambi’s positioning in sustainable bioresources infrastructure.
