C3 Metals Confirms Khaleesi Copper System Matches Age of Major Peruvian Deposits

Story Highlights
  • C3 Metals’ geochronology work shows Khaleesi’s molybdenite mineralization is about 35.8 million years old, matching the age of nearby tier-one copper deposits Las Bambas and Antapaccay in Peru.
  • The dating program reveals a multi-phase hydrothermal system at Khaleesi, with older diorite and skarn overprinted by younger copper-gold mineralization, strengthening the project’s exploration upside and regional significance.

The latest update is out from C3 Metals ( (TSE:CCCM) ).

C3 Metals has confirmed that molybdenite mineralization at its 100%-owned Khaleesi copper project in southern Peru dates to approximately 35.8 million years, aligning it with major nearby deposits such as Las Bambas and Antapaccay. Geochronological analysis of intrusive rocks, skarn and molybdenite veinlets indicates that Khaleesi sits within the key age window for the most productive porphyry and skarn systems in the Andahuaylas-Yauri belt.

The results suggest a long-lived, multi-phase hydrothermal system in which older gabbroic-diorite intrusives and garnet skarn, dated around 40 million years, were overprinted by a younger copper-gold mineralizing event that introduced quartz, copper sulfides and molybdenite veinlets. This age relationship supports the view that the diorite bodies act as conduits rather than barriers to mineralization, enhancing the project’s geological prospectivity and its comparability to some of Peru’s largest copper operations.
