BuzzFeed Aligns Executive Pay with Stock Performance

The latest update is out from BuzzFeed (BZFD).

BuzzFeed, Inc. has revamped its compensation approach, notably for founder and CEO Jonah Peretti, who now has a significant portion of his pay tied to stock options. This move aligns Peretti’s interests with those of shareholders, as his financial gain is linked to the stock’s performance. His base salary has been significantly reduced to match the median employee compensation, while also cutting his potential cash bonus. In addition, the company has granted stock options to other key executives and employees to retain talent and ensure their goals are aligned with company success.
