Brightstar Resources has signed a strategic framework agreement with Aquirian Limited for the exclusive provision of drilling and energetics services across its Goldfields Hub open pit operations for an initial term of up to five years. Under this framework, a three-year contract has been awarded to Aquirian subsidiary Drillforce WA for drill and blast services at the Lord Byron open pit mine, which is targeted to begin operations in the second half of calendar 2026.
The partnership will deploy Drillforce’s proprietary Collar Keeper technology on new Epiroc T45 rigs and leverage its large energetic materials facility in Western Australia, aiming to improve fragmentation while preserving ore, reduce dilution and lower load and haul costs. Brightstar expects the data-driven, automated blasting approach to enhance safety, minimise crusher downtime by eliminating PVC piping in blastholes, and support disciplined cost control and potential expansion opportunities at Lord Byron beyond the current mine plan.
