Boralex Inc. and Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation have commissioned the Hagersville Battery Energy Storage Park in Ontario, now the largest operating battery storage facility in Canada at 300 MW / 1,200 MWh, using 334 Tesla Megapack 2XL units. The project, recognized as the Canadian Renewable Energy Association’s Innovative Clean Energy Project of the Year, boosts Boralex’s operational storage capacity to 380 MW / 1,520 MWh and cements SNGRDC as North America’s largest Indigenous holder of battery storage assets.

The facility is designed to deliver up to four hours of full-power output, providing critical grid stabilization, supporting integration of intermittent renewable generation and meeting capacity needs identified by Ontario’s grid operator. The partners emphasize local economic participation through Six Nations labour and a community benefits agreement with Haldimand County, while additional joint storage projects, including the 125 MW / 500 MWh Oxford project, are advancing to further expand their leadership in Canada’s battery storage market.
