Boliden AB ( (SE:BOL) ) has shared an announcement.
Boliden will record a SEK 700 million write-down on assets at its Garpenberg mine after abnormal seismic activity in March caused extensive damage to the dominant Lappberget ore body and associated underground infrastructure. The company has also halted production at Garpenberg, which is expected to reduce first-quarter 2026 EBITDA by about SEK 400 million, highlighting operational and financial pressure on one of its key mining assets.
The write-down covers underground developments, other mining assets in the upper part of Lappberget and damaged mobile equipment, underlining the severity of the disruption. The incident may temporarily weaken Boliden’s output and cost efficiency from Garpenberg, with potential implications for near-term profitability and reliability of supply to customers while remediation and recovery plans are implemented.
The most recent analyst rating on (SE:BOL) stock is a Buy with a SEK558.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Boliden AB stock, see the SE:BOL Stock Forecast page.
