BioGaia AB ( ($SE:BIOG.B) ) has provided an announcement.
BioGaia has reported results from a 10-year follow-up study showing that early-life supplementation with its probiotic strain Limosilactobacillus reuteri Protectis is associated with a substantially lower prevalence of functional abdominal pain in children at age ten. The observational study, published in Nutrients and based on 200 participants from an original randomized infant trial, found that only 13.1 percent of children given the probiotic met diagnostic criteria for functional abdominal pain, compared with 80.2 percent in the placebo group, suggesting potentially long-lasting gut health benefits from early microbiome support.
The findings, while not proving causation, reinforce the clinical relevance of BioGaia’s long-term investment in infant probiotics and strengthen its positioning in the pediatric gastrointestinal segment. By indicating that interventions during a critical early developmental window may have durable effects on digestive wellbeing, the study could support broader medical and consumer acceptance of preventive probiotic use in infants and underpin demand for BioGaia’s products among parents, healthcare professionals, and distributors.
The most recent analyst rating on ($SE:BIOG.B) stock is a Hold with a SEK122.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on BioGaia AB stock, see the SE:BIOG.B Stock Forecast page.
