The latest update is out from Berkeley Energia ( (AU:BKY) ).

Berkeley Energia reported progress at its Conchas critical minerals project in Spain, where recent work confirmed shallow, thick lithium and rubidium mineralisation within muscovitic leucogranite. Preliminary metallurgical tests showed strong recoveries for both metals using flotation and magnetic separation, and the company has completed 3D geological modelling and an integrated geological model to prepare for resource estimation and further process optimisation.

The group also advanced its international arbitration against Spain, with its subsidiary filing a detailed Memorial of Claim at ICSID that alleges violations of the Energy Charter Treaty linked to actions affecting the Salamanca project. Berkeley is seeking about US$1.25 billion in compensation, a move that could materially affect the company’s financial position and underscores regulatory and sovereign risk issues faced by resource investors in Spain and across the European energy and critical minerals sector.

More about Berkeley Energia

Its current work centres on the Conchas project, which hosts shallow, thick zones of lithium and rubidium mineralisation, along with accessory critical metals such as tin, caesium, beryllium, niobium and tantalum, supporting its strategic positioning in high-tech and energy transition supply chains.

The company operates within the broader Spanish mining and resource sector, with assets historically including the Salamanca uranium project. Through its subsidiaries, Berkeley also maintains an international legal and corporate structure, with listings on the LSE, ASX and Madrid, and is pursuing protections for its investments under international treaties.
