BayFirst Financial Corp ( (BAFN) ) has shared an update.

On May 1, 2026, BayFirst Financial Corp. reported a first-quarter 2026 net loss of $5.7 million, reflecting shrinking loan and deposit balances, margin compression, and elevated credit costs tied largely to unguaranteed SBA 7(a) loans. The company’s allowance for credit losses rose versus a year earlier, while capital and liquidity ratios remained pressured but adequate, with most deposits FDIC insured and no wholesale borrowings.

Management detailed an $80 million private capital raise through convertible preferred stock at an effective $3.50 per share, paired with a rights offering and plans to channel $42 million into the bank to lift key capital ratios. The board also moved to refresh leadership by appointing Al Rogers as CEO of BayFirst National Bank and naming Kenneth R. Lehman to the boards, resumed preferred dividends, and committed to refocusing growth on core community banking in Tampa Bay and Sarasota while working down problem SBA assets.

Spark’s Take on BAFN Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, BAFN is a Neutral.

The score is held down primarily by the sharp 2025 earnings/cash-flow deterioration. The recapitalization and improved pro forma capital position from the latest call provide an offset, while technicals remain broadly bearish despite improving momentum and the high dividend yield offers only modest support given profitability uncertainty.
