The latest announcement is out from Balkan Mining and Minerals Ltd ( (AU:BMM) ).
Bayan Mining and Minerals has identified two priority exploration targets at its Bayan Springs North Project in Nevada, following interpretation of high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric data from a U.S. Geological Survey program. The survey outlines a structural window of Paleozoic carbonate and clastic rocks cut by fault systems and intruded by felsic bodies interpreted as potential sources for silver-gold mineralisation, with much of the area under shallow cover but still amenable to effective targeting.
Target 1 lies along a trend of elevated magnetic susceptibility associated with intrusive rocks and is interpreted as an intrusive-centre or feeder-style setting, where mineralisation could occur along the margins of magnetic bodies in more favourable carbonate host rocks. This target is reinforced by earlier rock-chip sampling that returned anomalous arsenic and zinc near the contact zone of a Cretaceous granitic intrusion and rhyolite dykes, strengthening its ranking in Bayan’s exploration pipeline.
Target 2 is defined beneath post-mineral cover by coincident magnetic susceptibility and elevated potassium radiometric responses, a combination that may indicate shallow intrusions or potassic alteration similar to criteria used across the nearby Maverick Springs district. Soil geochemistry over this area previously yielded anomalous arsenic, mercury, antimony and thallium, suggesting a concealed hydrothermal system and underscoring the potential for concealed mineralisation at depth.
Both targets share key geophysical characteristics with the adjacent Maverick Springs mineralised system, where magnetic highs extend from near surface to depth and are linked to intrusive feeder settings. The interpretation of the new Earth MRI dataset by Bayan’s technical advisor validates the targeting model and provides a more detailed structural and lithological framework, enhancing the company’s ability to focus exploration on the most prospective parts of its landholding.
Bayan’s next phase of work at Bayan Springs North will concentrate on surface validation of the two priority targets through detailed rock-chip sampling and soil geochemistry. For investors and stakeholders, the definition of these geophysically and geochemically supported targets in a proven precious metals district marks a tangible step toward potential discovery, sharpening Bayan’s exploration focus and reinforcing the strategic value of its Nevada ground.
