Axos Financial ( (AX) ) has shared an update.

On April 22, 2026, Axos Bank agreed to acquire approximately $3.2 billion in individual retirement account deposits from Capital One, covering traditional and Roth IRAs held in savings and certificate of deposit accounts, along with related assets and liabilities. Axos will receive cash equal to the aggregate IRA deposit balances minus a negotiated premium, and, pending approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the deal is expected to close later in 2026, significantly expanding Axos’s IRA custodial base and strengthening its position in retirement-focused banking services.

The transaction structure positions Axos to scale low-cost, FDIC-insured deposits and deepen its presence in long-duration consumer retirement accounts, potentially improving funding stability and margin profile. For Capital One, the sale trims its IRA custodial book and associated obligations, while shifting a sizable block of retirement customers to a specialist digital bank that is seeking growth through targeted acquisitions in niche deposit segments.

The most recent analyst rating on (AX) stock is a Buy with a $100.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Axos Financial stock, see the AX Stock Forecast page.

Spark’s Take on AX Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, AX is a Neutral.

The score is driven by solid underlying financial performance and a supportive earnings outlook (loan/deposit momentum and accretive acquisition), partially offset by weaker cash-flow consistency and some balance-sheet data uncertainty. Technicals are the main drag, with clear bearish trend signals despite oversold readings. Valuation helps due to the low P/E, though no dividend yield reduces support.
